| RISC
HUMAN 3.2 (RISC = Risk Identification of Soil Contamination) is a model
for determining human exposure to soil contaminants. The model contains
the CSOIL equations developed by the Dutch National Institute of Public
Health and the Environment (RIVM). |
| Design of the software |
| Because
of the large variety of human exposure on contaminated sites, different
model approaches are included in RISC-HUMAN. The program is designed according
to the CSOIL method. Besides this also the VOLASOIL and SEDISOIL methods
are implemented. VOLASOIL can be used as an alternative to the original
CSOIL equations to assess the exposure via the volatilisation pathway. The
SEDISOIL model estimates human exposure due to contaminated or polluted
sediments. Because RISC-HUMAN is a site specific human risk assessment model,
site specific information is required. A large amount of this information
is included, and most of the default values can be adjusted based on site
specific information. |
| Characteristics |
Most
important characteristics of the software package:
|
| Support |
|
The computer program provides a context sensitive HELP explaining the use of the program. Secondly, an extensive KNOWLEDGE, presenting all the background information, e.g. equations, default values and parameter ranges. The second is particularly of importance during the process of site-specific modelling
