Soil Remediation Urgency and -Deadline based on Risk Assessment(The Netherlands) |
| In
this presentation we explain the role of site specific RISK ASSESSMENT as
a tool for determining the urgency and the deadline for soil remediation
(RUM). The model RUM takes into account the (actual) human (health-)risks
due to soil contamination (RISC-HUMAN / CSOIL etc.) and also ecological
risks and risks related to dispersion of the contaminants in the environment.
In the concluding remarks we point out to the opportunities for applying
the above mentioned approaches in managing the soil pollution activities
in Japan, where there are an estimated 320 000 suspicious sites. In addition,
Japan can play a leading role in the world by taking the opportunity to
develop a framework and defining standards and norms, taking the experiences
and expertise of The Netherlands into consideration. The slides presented
during the presentation can be downloaded at the Download
page.
