Masterclass Sanscrit 2008

Together with the renewed Circular on 'Soil remediation' that will become effective at 1 October 2008, a new version of the decision support model Sanscrit becomes available. The new version will be available as a webapplication at www.risicotoolboxbodem.nl from October 2008. One of the changes is the ecological risk assessment; changing from a single substance approach towards a mixture based risk assssement.

Already this year we offer several masterclasses on Sanscrit. In one afternoon (13.00 - 17.00) we inform you about all new elements in Sanscrit and upgrade your risk assessment skills, of course by applying the new version. The Masterclass is held in several regions in The Netherlands, so you will always find a location near you. Click here for more information (in Dutch) or contact us.

Click here for a direct online registration to the Masterclass.

Are more people of your company interested in the masterclass? Please contact us for the options for an in-company class.

Software program Sanscrit available

Van Hall Larenstein finalized the development of Sanscrit version 1.0. This software supports the application of the Remediation criteria (Saneringscriterium). Sanscrit determines if a case of soil contamination causes unacceptable risks for human, ecosystem or transport of contamination via groundwater. Sanscrit replaces the program SUS (RUM); each registered user of SUS is informed about the availability of SUS and can download Sanscrit 1.0 for free.

Japanese course member completed training on human risk assessment of soil contamination with success
The Van Hall Instituut organised a course on human risk assessment of soil contamination for a Japanese course member who works in Japan as an engineer at a Gas company. The course member visited the Netherlands for a period of a month to follow the course. The first 2,5 week, the Van Hall Instituut organised training on the following topics: risk perception, risk communication, model approach, decision support and uncertainties of risk assessment. Besides theoretical information a lot of practical risk assessment cases were carried out by the course member in order to apply the theory in daily practice (e.g. a risk assessment case study of a Japanese contaminated site, a former gas work). Learning to work with risk assessment software (in this course RISC-HUMAN) was also part of the course. After completing the course at the Van Hall Instituut, the member visited several governmental organizations, industries and consultancy firms in order to study on Dutch soil legislation, soil remediation techniques and the application of (human) risk assessment at contaminated sites.
