| Japan Soil Remediation Mission visits Van Hall Instituut |

On 19th of June 2002 a Japanese Soil Remediation Mission visited the Van Hall Instituut as part of more days visit to the Netherlands. The mission was organized by Consulate of the Netherlands in Osaka, Japan and the Netherlands Foreign Trade Agency of Ministry of Economic Affairs.The delegation consists of represents of university (Osaka University), governmental institute (Osaka City, Institute of Public Health & Environmental Sciences), Consulate General of The Netherlands and several companies.Purpose of the visit to Van Hall Instituut was getting acquainted with two spearheads of the institute: risk assessment of soil contamination and water treatment. Risk assessment of Soil Contamination: Mr. Peter Smit presented the activities with respect risk assessment of soil contamination. The role of the models the Van Hall Instituut has developed within the area of interest was emphasized during the presentation. Besides the models, attention was also given to courses and in-company trainings, which are organized by the Van Hall Instituut. Slides of the presentation can be downloaded at the Download page. Water treatment: Mr. Jan Klein Hesselink showed the delegation the environmental technology hall in which the Van Hall Instituut focuses his attention to waste water treatment.
